About
Born and raised in Portland, Maine, to African immigrant parents, Angelikah Fahray is an emerging voice in Alternative R&B. Her music intertwines the soulful, smooth sounds of R&B with deeply personal storytelling, offering listeners an emotionally resonant experience. From a young age, Angelikah was captivated by the power of music. Watching Whitney Houston perform sparked her earliest dream of becoming a singer, and it wasn’t long before she started honing her voice, often singing alongside her father, a performer and dancer himself. Growing up in a home filled with music, art, and local cultural expression, Angelikah’s love for music blossomed early, thanks to her family’s influence and her exposure to the vibrant artistic community in Portland.
Her journey as an artist began in her formative years, fueled by diverse musical influences ranging from Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson to the Jonas Brothers and Beyoncé. These early inspirations helped shape her evolving sound, which would later grow into a distinctive blend of Alternative R&B, imbued with both modern electronic elements, timeless soul, and soft rock influence.
One of the most pivotal moments in Angelikah’s life came during a group school trip to Mississippi when her teacher encouraged her to step into the spotlight for the first time. It was during a school talent show that she discovered the exhilarating rush of performing in public, and from that moment, she knew music would be her calling. This breakthrough led her to join local cover bands where she gained invaluable experience in performing live and in the studio. Through these experiences, she developed a deep understanding of her voice, eventually realizing that her true passion was to create and perform her own music.
During her time in cover bands she pursued nursing school in the hopes to become a nurse. 2.5 years into the program, she realized the path to nursing was not as accessible as she’d hoped. Eventually, music became her primary focus. As she became more active in Portland’s open mic scene, she connected with local professionals in the music scene, leading her to her first recording session at the late Breakwater Studios.
Angelikah’s accomplishments thus far—from writing songs in her 8’ x 10’ bedroom to performing on some of Maine’s largest stages—are a reflection of her belief in herself and her vision. In her short career, she has already landed headlining slots at All Roads Music Festival, Creative Portland’s Hear Here Festival, ARME Boot Camps 1 & 2, and Flourish Fest in New Brunswick, Canada. Angelikah has shared the stage with internationally renowned acts such as The Garifuna Collective, Madison McFerrin, Rwandese singer, Kitoko, and The Rustic Overtones to name a few.
Outside of music, Angelikah is passionate about fashion, photography, dance, travel, and wellness. These creative outlets further fuel her artistry, adding layers of meaning to her music.
As she continues to grow as an artist, Angelikah Fahray remains dedicated to sharing her gifts with the world, determined to bring light and love through her powerful, introspective sound.
